In Nexon EV
I never thought that I will be ever owning a Tata car (read sumo) but I did anyway when they came up with Nexon EV because the other EVs available were just rubbish or too costly. I did not expect a smooth experience, but Tata dealership went out of the way to go over and above my expectations. They screwed up bigtime in everything. That's a story for another day. Just to be clear Tata motors was always helpful and the willingness to help was obvious. After an eternity of wait, misinformation, blatent lies and talk-to-the-hand approach of the local dealership and it's sales team , the car was home delivered. 770 km went like a dream, interrupted only by vile comments on the car and it's performance in some WhatsApp group. Clearly one buying a vehicle understanding the ARAI BS as real, needs help. I loved everything about it, well almost everything. The clam in the cabin, the one pedal driving, zappy pickup all are real! The laggy screen kind of brings you down to earth. In about two months I received the first call for the first service and an "update". I was not sure waht the update was but the crappy app stopped working and Tata was not returning ny calls for last couple of days even after complaining so I thought let's set it up. The car also was showing a warning on service due. The service team turned out to be exact opposite of the sales team. They were professional, courteous and quick. It took three and half hours to complete the servicing. I loved the entire experience. The update turned out to be a retrofit of a couple of studs and washers. These were removed and replaced with probably better designed ones. They are used to hold the power distribution unit and both bolts are on the left-hand side of the box if you face the car. Rest of the work was just routine like AC filter cleaning, greasing the door hinges etc. When the car was lifted up, I got a good view of the battery and the motor. They also connected a laptop and did a diagnostic and cleared DTCs. Which did the trick for me to fix the app. The cherry on the cake was the zero bill for servicing. Never in my life I have walked out of a workshop without paying. Be it a so called free service or the one with a silent r 🤪 The car delivers. I feel happy everytime I pass by a petrol pump. The range anxiety is real in the begining but it takes some time to get used to an EV. The biggest issue with an EV is our ICE mindset. Of course I am not telling you can drive cross country right now in a Nexon EV, but with Tata's commitment of deploying chargers, one day it might be possible. I did it in my ICE cars and I sure dream to do the same again in my beloved Nexon EV.
